Ganoderma lucidum triterpenes help reduce the cancer risk

Most people don’t think about Ganoderma lucidum until they get sick. They simply forget that Ganoderma lucidum can also be used for the preventive treatment of disease. According to a report published by the Amala Cancer Research Centre of India in the “Mutation Research” in January 2017, Ganoderma lucidum triterpenes, which can effectively inhibit the survival of cancer cells, can reduce the occurrence and severity of tumors, whether used externally or internally.
Ganoderma lucidum triterpenes make cancer cells not live well.
The study used the total triterpenoid extract of the fruiting body of Ganoderma lucidum. Researchers put it together with MCF-7 human breast cancer cells (estrogen-dependent) and found that the higher the concentration of the extract, the longer the time it takes to interact with cancer cells, the more it can reduce the survival rate of cancer cells, and even in some cases, it can make cancer cells disappear completely (as shown below).

Further analysis of the anti-cancer mechanism of Ganoderma lucidum total triterpenes revealed that after cancer cells are adjusted by Ganoderma lucidum triterpenes, many genes and protein molecules in the cells will undergo great changes. In detail, the originally active cyclin D1 and Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL will be suppressed while the originally quiet Bax and Caspase-9 will become restless.

Cyclin D1, Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL will promote the continuous proliferation of cancer cells while Bax and caspase-9 will initiate the apoptosis of cancer cells so that cancer cells can age and die like normal cells.

External use experiment: Ganoderma lucidum triterpenes prevent skin tumors.
Applying Ganoderma lucidum total triterpenes to animals can also exert a preventive inhibitory effect on tumors. The first is the induction experiment of “cutaneous papilloma” (Editor’s note: This is a benign papillary tumor that protrudes from the surface of the skin. If its base extends below the epidermis, it will easily deteriorate into skin cancer):

The carcinogen DMBA (dimethyl benz[a]anthracene, a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon compound that can cause genetic mutations) was applied to the back of the experimental mouse (its hair had been shaved) to induce skin lesions.
After 1 week, the researchers applied croton oil, a substance that promotes tumor growth, to the same area twice a week, and also applied 5, 10, or 20 mg of Ganoderma lucidum triterpenes 40 minutes before each application of croton oil for 8 consecutive weeks (the 2nd to 9th week of the experiment).

After that, the researchers stopped applying harmful substances and Ganoderma lucidum but continued to raise the mice and observe their conditions. At the end of the 18th week of the experiment, the mice in the untreated control group, regardless of the incidence of tumors, the number of tumors that grew, and the time to grow the first tumor, were significantly different from the mice that were applied with 5, 10, and 20 mg of Ganoderma lucidum triterpenes (as shown in the figure below). (Note: 12 mice per group.)

Feeding experiment: Ganoderma lucidum triterpenes prevent breast cancer.
The second is the “breast cancer” experiment: mice were fed carcinogen DMBA once a week for 3 weeks, and from the next day after the first carcinogen feeding (24 hours later), 10, 50 or 100 mg/kg of Ganoderma lucidum triterpenes were fed every day for 5 consecutive weeks.
The results are almost the same as the previous skin papilloma experiments. The control group without any treatment has a 100% chance of developing breast cancer. Ganoderma lucidum triterpenes can significantly reduce the incidence of tumors; the mice that ate Ganoderma lucidum were significantly different from the mice that didn’t eat Ganoderma lucidum in the number of tumors that grew and the time to grow the first tumor (as shown in the figure below).
The tumor weights of mice protected with 10, 50 or 100 mg/kg total extract of Ganoderma lucidum triterpenes were only two-thirds, one-half and one-third of the tumor weights of mice in the control group, respectively.

Ganoderma lucidum triterpenes have both safe and effective advantages.

The results of the above two animal experiments clearly tell us that whether oral administration or external application of Ganoderma lucidum total triterpenes can effectively reduce the incidence of tumors, reduce the number of tumors and delay the appearance of tumors.

The mechanism of Ganoderma lucidum total triterpenes may be related to the regulation of genes and protein molecules in tumor cells mentioned earlier in this article. The research team has previously confirmed that Ganoderma lucidum total triterpenes do not harm normal cells, showing that Ganoderma lucidum total triterpenes are both safe and effective.

In this modern society full of health crises, it is a fantasy to avoid carcinogens. How to ask for blessings in troubled times? Products containing Ganoderma lucidum total triterpenes may be your ideal sustenance.
