3 EFFECTIVE WAYS TO PREVENT LIVER CANCER

3 EFFECTIVE WAYS TO PREVENT LIVER CANCER

Apr 22, 2022

YE LI

A Ming, a 29-year-old lad from Fuzhou, never thought that the “trilogy” of “hepatitis B-cirrhosis-hepatic cancer” would happen to him.

There were three or four social engagements every week, and staying up late for drinking was a common occurrence. Some time ago, A Ming simply took some stomach medicine when he felt uncomfortable in his stomach, but his abdominal discomfort did not improve. Until he went to the hospital, the color Doppler ultrasound showed space-occupying liver lesions, A Ming was finally diagnosed with “advanced liver cancer”.

Judging from the hospital diagnosis, A Ming is a typical patient who has developed from hepatitis B to liver cancer, but A Ming does not know that he is a hepatitis B virus carrier. He had many opportunities to discover his own disease, but he never participated in the medical examination organized by the company. Year-round drinking continued to damage his liver and accelerate the development of hepatitis to liver cirrhosis and liver cancer……

Relevant statistics shows approximately 75% of all liver cancer arises in Asia, with China accounting for over 50% of the world’s burden. Nearly 90% of liver cancers are closely related to hepatitis B. Long-term carriers of hepatitis B and C viruses, people with a family history of liver cancer, long-term alcoholics and smokers, and patients with chronic liver disease and liver cirrhosis are more likely to develop liver cancer.

Why is liver cancer already in an advanced stage once it is discovered?

1. “Liver” is too powerful!

1/4 of the liver of a normal person can meet the daily needs. Therefore, the early diseased liver can still work normally without causing obvious discomfort to the patient.

When the tumor is growing and metastasizing in the liver, there may be no obvious abnormality in liver function.

2. Screening methods are difficult to promote.

Unlike the screening of gastric cancer and bowel cancer, the early screening of liver cancer lacks effective and simple means. In theory, early detection can be achieved with enhanced nuclear magnetic resonance. However, the cost and inconvenience of this technology are both problems, and it is difficult to popularize it on a large scale.

Currently, liver cancer screening methods mainly include liver color Doppler ultrasound and alpha-fetoprotein. Alpha-fetoprotein also lacks sensitivity, and liver color Doppler ultrasound easily misses liver cancers that are less than 1 cm in diameter. Therefore, most of liver cancers are already at an advanced stage as soon as they are discovered.

Of course, most cancers are insidious in their early stages. Therefore, it is very important to cultivate awareness of prevention! In addition to regular medical screenings, we also need to do the following:

  1. Get the hepatitis B vaccine.

In China, the main cause of liver cancer is hepatitis B. Hepatitis B patients should actively receive antiviral treatment.

Regarding hepatitis B, the current point of view is that if the quantification of hepatitis B virus can be reduced to less than 20IU/L, the possibility of liver cirrhosis will approach zero (in the absence of liver cirrhosis), and the possibility of liver cancer can also be reduced to near normal population levels (before liver cirrhosis occurs). -The text of this paragraph is integrated from the Weibo of “Doctor Liang of Liver Disease”.

  1. Quit the habit that hurts the liver the most – alcoholism.

The toxins produced when the liver metabolizes alcohol can cause liver damage; in particular, long-term alcoholism is really worse for patients with viral hepatitis.

3. Eat healthy food instead of moldy food.

Improperly stored peanuts, corn and rice will produce the carcinogen “Aspergillus flavus” after being contaminated by mold. This thing is closely relevant to liver cancer. So be careful.

In addition, taking more Ganoderma lucidum in the daily diet can nourish the liver. Shennong Materia Medica records that Ganoderma lucidum ”tonifies the liver qi and calms the nerves”, that is, Ganoderma lucidum has obvious liver protection effects. At present, the combination of Ganoderma lucidum and some drugs that damage the liver can avoid or reduce the liver damage caused by drugs and protect the liver.

Why can Ganoderma lucidum ”tonify liver qi”?

Today, many pharmacological studies have confirmed the effect of Ganoderma lucidum to “tonify the liver qi”.

As early as the 1970s, clinical studies in China have confirmed that Ganoderma lucidum can treat viral hepatitis.

Most of these patients had improved their symptoms within 1 to 3 months by taking the Ganoderma lucidum preparation alone or in combination with conventional medical treatment, including:

(1) Serum ALT/GPT returned to normal or decreased;

(2) Enlarged liver and spleen returned to normal or shrinked;

(3) Bilirubin improved or returned to normal, and jaundice symptoms were relieved or disappeared;

(4) Subjective symptoms such as fatigue, loss of appetite, abdominal distension and liver pain were relieved or disappeared.

Overall, Ganoderma lucidum improves acute hepatitis significantly faster than chronic hepatitis; Ganoderma lucidum is more effective in treating mild chronic hepatitis than severe chronic hepatitis.

Why can Ganoderma lucidum treat hepatitis?

Triterpenoids extracted from Ganoderma lucidum fruiting bodies are important components of Ganoderma lucidum for liver protection. They not only have an obvious protective effect on chemical liver injury caused by CC14 and D-galactosamine but also have an obvious protective effect on immune liver injury caused by BCG + lipopolysaccharide. – Excerpt from Lingzhi From Mystery to Science, First Edition, p116

On the whole, Ganoderma lucidum mainly protects liver cells through antioxidation, improves hepatitis symptoms, inhibits liver fibrosis, promotes liver cell regeneration, reduces fat accumulation in the liver and enhances liver detoxification.

The deterioration of hepatitis into liver cancer is not an overnight thing but a cumulative result. During this period, most people can stay away from liver disease as long as they have regular medical screening, control alcohol, eat regularly and preserve health with Ganoderma lucidum!
